Defender Forced To Quit
Former Halifax Town defender Craig Fleming has hung up his boots due to injury.
The Halifax born centrehalf, has been playing this season for British Gas Business Southern League Premier Division side King's Lynn and he has struggled with ankle problems.
A King's Lynn statement said, "Lynn FC have confirmed that Craig Fleming has been forced to retire from football due to injury.
"Craig has been advised by his surgeon that if he were to play again he would risk further damage to his already injured ankle.
"King's Lynn FC wishes to place on record its thanks to Craig for all of his efforts for us in his short spell with the club.
"We wish him well for the future."
Fleming, 36, started his career at the Shay coming through the youth ranks making 56 league appearances for the club.
Local neighbours Oldham Athletic paid £80,000 for his services in August 1991 and he went onto make 185 appearances in six years at Boundary Park.
In August 1997 he moved to Norwich City and in 10 years with the Canaries made nearly 350 league appearances.
He has since had spells with Wolves and Rotherham United before his final club of King's Lynn.
