SRFC Match :- Atherton's View
Halifax Town drew 0-0 at home to Stafford Rangers and Town assistant boss Peter Atherton summed up his thoughts after the game,
He said after the game, "We were obviously disappointed with the result. The commitment from the players is still there, we can't fault them on that. It's just the final ball and we've had a good shout for a penalty. Jon Shaw thought it was a penalty , he's an honest lad so we think we've been hard done to on that one.
We have had the majority of possession during the game, they had one or two breakaways as we were pushing forward towards the end. We didn't want to settle for a draw. The bonus though is we kept a clean sheet, disappointment though is that we didn't win the game.
We've had the chances Quinn's had a couple of headers, Jon Shaw did really well and the ball came back off the post.
When we got into good wide positions we haven't picked anyone out and killed them off. Credit to them they stuck to their task.
The lads kept trying and they weren't hiding. Maybe a couple of them weren't at full tilt with regards to generalisation of the team they worked the socks off.
We were right behind Jon Shaw's shot and you could see as it went towards goal it bobbling on the pitch and it came back out. Campbell was in there and one or two others and it sums up how it is going as it goes to their defenders.
Clarke and Davies stepped into the side today and were excellent. They have only been with us a couple of days, two new faces at the back but they have made a big difference and no disrespect to the other lads who have played there this season, they looked very strong and hopefully will be like that for the rest of the season.
We are very disappointed, we aren't happy with a point. We are pleased with a clean sheet and a lot of the performances."
