EUFC Match :- Wilder's View
Halifax Town Chris Wilder was in good spirits after seeing his side beat Ebbsfleet United tonight.
He said after the game,
"We've gone through the mill again. It was unfortunate that Jon Shaw missed the penalty but that seems to be part of the course at the moment.
There were a lot of tired legs out there and I thought the attitude of the players was first class. They threw themselves in front of challenges. It was a difficult time to play and it didn't make it any easier for us them going down to 10 men.
The most important thing is the result. I think we can play better, pass the ball better, move it better and make better decisions. There is a big difference between how I felt on Tuesday night and how I do now.
Hopefully the players will use this as a springboard to stay out of the bottom four.
I thought the sending off was a tight one. I thought both players were committed and went for the ball. Their lad did go high but Griffith didn't pull back.
Jon Shaw is our penalty taker and has been successful on many occasions so unfortunate he didn't score.
The young boys at the club are feeling the pressure. Simon Heslop is not our player and he is still feeling the pressure out there. There were players on Tuesday night who didn't take responsibility and Heslop was one of them, he turned down shots. So we got into his head that he had to take responsibility and have some shots. You saw the reaction of the players and supporters to the goal.
The pitch doesn't make it easy for us, I would like to have seen us play on Rushden & Diamonds pitch against Ebbsfleet tonight and I think we would have opened them up more.
I thought the support the players got here tonight was first class. I thought it was a great atmosphere inside the ground and it was a good effort when we got stuffed 6-1 on Tuesday night. There reaction to the players tonight was superb. We are all in this together, not just the players, me, it's the club which includes the supporters as well. It's the whole club that is in this situation and we need to stick together.
They gave the players a lift when they needed it especially in the final 10 minutes when there were a lot of tired players out there. Griffith had cramp, Gareth Davies first game back and it gave them a real lift and I hope it continues.
To come back from 6-1 takes a lot of commitment and desire and it speaks volume for the players.
There will be changes to the side on Saturday, the fixture list has been scandalous, playing Thurs, Sat, Tues, Thurs, Sat and Tue. The players are tired but we will see how they are tomorrow and see what happens."
