Give the green light to the Shay Stadium
Halifax Town return to the top five after a goalless draw against Morecambe in front of the SKY TV cameras at The Shay. A draw may suit both sides as the point ensures The Shrimps stay one place ahead of Town on goal difference.
In an entertaining encounter both sides may feel they had the opportunities to take all 3 points but Steve Drench in the Morecambe goal was busier than Adam Legzdins.
Possession was even early on but both sides failed co create any clear cut chances. Rory Prendergast on the left wing was the danger man with teasing crosses but there was no end product. John Grant gave Steve Drench his first scare but the keeper saved low to his right from Town's top scorer. Grant again and the impressive Matt Doughty had other efforts in the first half.
Town's back four were well marshalled by Peter Atherton aided by the dominant Adam Quinn and Morecambe's attacking threat was largely nullified with Legzdins looking composed if any threat materialised.
The second half continued with Morecambe packing the midfield to frustrate The Shaymen's usually fluent attacking play. Two visitors found their way into Mr Hewitt's notebook for fouls and from the first Prendergast's free kick was blocked by the solid wall of red shirts.
Danny Carlton forced a fine save from Legzdings from what was possibly Morecambe's best effort of the match. Town's best chance followed on 80 minutes when Chris Senior was through on goal but his shot was saved by Drench who then produced the save of the match to deny Doughty a 20 yard screamer.
