Lewis Killeen
Killeen's goal wasn't enough for Shaymen

Halifax Town crashed to 3-1 away defeat to mid table Aldershot Town in a game that Chris Wilder does feel his side should have taken all three points.

Defensive errors cost the Shaymen who had been in total control of the game in the early stages and were again in the second half.

With Peter Atherton out of the side injured with a hamtring injury, Wilder brought in Greg Young as Adam Quinn's partner in the heart of defence and brought Wayne Jacobs in on the left hand side of midfield, leaving Chris Senior and Danny Forrest as the strike force partnership assisted by Lewis Killeen on the right flank.

Town started brightly with some neat football, Killeen's second minute effort narrowly cleared the bar after being set up by Danny Forrest and both players were involved soon after to set up Jacobs whose left foot shot brought a fine save from Nikki Bull in the home goal.

Danny Forrest
Forrest's assist set up Town's opener

Aldershot's Ryan Williams freekick on 7 minutes found Tim Sills unmarked at the far post, Adam Legzdins saved and Young cleared the ball to safety.

Lewis Hamilton found Gary Hollway three minutes later but his effort at goal was straight at Legzdins for a comfortable save.

Nikki Bull stood no chance on 17 minutes when Chris Senior's mazy run and Danny Forrest's deft touch set up Killeen whose left foot shot into the right hand corner of the net.

This sparked the home side into life and they drew level in the 22nd minute when a neat flick from Tim Sills released Gary Holloway who slotted past Adam Legzdins.

On 30 minutes, Senior received the ball at the edge of the penalty area from Wayne Jacobs with his back to goal and attempted a overhead kick but the effort didn't have enough power and Bull had an easy save.

Two minutes later Forrest's flick found Senior who was held back at the edge of the penalty area by John Brough and referee Gavin Ward brought his first yellow card out of the game. Jacob's effort had a deflection which took the sting from the shot and was comfortable again for Bull.

Greg Young
Greg Young played at centrehalf
Forrest was fouled by Greg Heald edge of the box and Martin Foster's effort was over the bar with two minutes to the break.

However Town went into halftime behind 2-1, Matt Doughty looked to have been fouled at the edge of the home penalty area, no freekick was given and the ball was played up field, Leroy Griffths who joined The Shots from Fisher Athletic yesterday got behind Greg Young and fired past Legzdins.

Town came out in the second half trying to find an equaliser, Killeen, Foster and Senior all having efforts

Williams fired over after a foul by Killeen at the edge of the box just after the hour but Town looked to be having the better chances.

Matt Doughty tried his look from a 20 yard freekick but fired it high and wide of Bull's goal on 65 minutes

Then disaster struck for the Shaymen on 73 minutes, Young blocked Nick Crittenden's cross for a corner, Legzdins saved the header but Griffiths was on hand to poke home the rebound for 3-1.

Haslam fired over just after the goal, then a Doughty shot deflected to Senior who went around the goalkeeper but the offside flag was raised before he could have a shot at goal.

Forrest brought a magnificent save from Bull who palmed the ball over for a corner, Bowler had a late chance but still couldn't find another goal.

Chris Wilder was disappointed his side left Aldershot with no points,

"Sloppy goals, disappointed they haven't had to work hard for their goals at all. We went one nil up, conceded a sloppy equaliser and then horrendous defender gave them a massive shot in the arm, committed suicide again with the third."

"Their keeper made 3 or 4 great saves, but no excuses. It's here and now, we need to get results - lack of belief, not taken the responsibility of shooting, should have come away with results.

"We've shot ourselves in the foot, we've not held the ball up, school boy defending has cost us."

It' be difficult, could be losing Adam Legzinds, could be a recall on him today, don't see other teams losing 4 or 5 senior players,"
