Roared on by almost 1100 travelling fans, Halifax Town's play off charge continues with a fine 2 v 0 win at the Kit-Kat Crescent, home of York City.
Top scorer John Grant's 12th goal of the season early in the 2nd half and a fine Steve Bushell strike 7 minutes from time secured another well deserved win, the 7th away from home this season.

Goalmouth action was scarce in a wind dominated first half. Grant held the ball up well and passed to Brian Smikle but his 25 yards shot was well wide. York's best effort came from a Joe O'Neill header from a Dave Merris cross that narrowly cleared the bar. Town's best opportunity fell to Danny Forrest seconds before half time. Matt Doughty whipped over a teasing cross and keeper Chris Porter made a good save low to his right from Forrest's effort.
Playing towards the travelling fans Town came out looking for goals after the break and only had to wait 3 minutes. Steve Haslam's cross from the right held up in the wind and Grant got his head to the ball ahead of Porter and his effort looped towards goal seeming to take an eternity to get there. When it did the celebrations began.
The only cause for concern such was the dominance of the Town defence came moments later when Doughty intercepted a cross that Jon Kennedy has no option to catch. Referee Foster bizarrely adjudged this was a deliberate back pass and booked Smikle and Doughty in the ensuing protest and the age it the indirect free kick to be taken. Justice was done as the twice taken shot by Darren Dunning was blocked on both occasions.
York should have equalised on 67 minutes. Former Shayman James Dudgeon met a free kick on the far post and his header was miskicked by O'Neill yards from goal with Kennedy beaten.
Town's dominance was emphasised by the act this was York's sole threat. Steve Bushell who replaced Brian Smikle made the game safe with his second goal of the season. Martin Foster's corner on the Town left was cleared to Bushell who kept cool and his measured right foot shot gave Porter no chance. The referee's final whistle was the cue for the celebrations among the travelling fans and this excellent result takes Town 3 points closer to the play offs.
It would be unfair to single out any players as this was a real team effort, all 13 who played deserve enormous credit as do Chris Wilder and Wayne Jacobs. Roll on Crawley Town on Saturday.
