BAFC Match :- Preview
This Tuesday, Halifax Town host Burton Albion for match 13 in the Blue Sqaure Premier League calendar.
"Young Big 'Ead", Nigel Clough has inspired his men in to 5th place so this season, with a 4 point advantage over their nearest rivals Salisbury, and 1 game in hand.A victory at The Shay will send them 7 points clear, and reward them with a nicely bedded in play off position.
Chris Wilder was disappointed with the result against York City in last Thursday's televised Yorkshire derby - he himself admitting that the side tend to gift games to the opposition, and that inconsistencies will get his side nowhere.
Greg Young will be chomping at the bit to play a part against The Brewers. If Wilder decides to ring the changes, don't be surprised if Young figures from the start, as even though the back line have looked awesome for the Shaymen at times this season, no-one could disguise the fact that they have also at times looked shaky, and when teams have exploited this - York being a perfect example - silly goals have been given away.
Burton look to include loanees Andy Gooding (Coventry) and Sam Aiston (Northampton) for their journey to The Shay - having both signed extensions to their current loan deals.Quality in the squad no doubt. Two other men to keep an eye on will be Irish "playmaker" Keith Gilroy, who set up Burton's 2 goals against Droylsden on Saturday and proved a handful for their defence, and striker Shaun Harrad.Harrad replaced the in-effectual Daryl Clare in the same game, and scored a wonderful goal within just 2 minutes, twisting and turning the Droylsden defence, before curling a right foot shot into the top corner of the net from the edge of the area.
Lewis Killeen is a doubt for Town, along with Andy Campbell who is definitely out whilst the results of a scan are known. The inclusion of Jon Shaw, who was substituted in the game against York City with a dead leg, is a possibility.Wilder will be hoping that at least one of his front men can overcome their knocks to feature in what will be a tough and hard fought contest for both sides.Danny Forrest is standing by to play the role of emergency striker, with Daryl Taylor ready for a recall to the right of midfield.
Another player who'll be knocking on the manager's door will be new sigining Junior Dadson.Dadson,18, was signed on non-contract terms last week, and made his debut on Thursday night as a substitute for Darryn Stamp.
Stats wise, both teams form this season shows that it'll be tough for either side to churn out 3 points.Town average 2 points per game at home, which equals the Brewers average away points tally. In Town's favour though, theyhave scored 10 at home, conceding only 4, wheras Albion have scored 9 on the road, and again conceded 4.
3 points for Town could see them return to 10th place in the Blue Square Premier League, depending on the scoreline.
