ATFC Match :- Preview
Chris Wilder and his injury hit squad head south this weekend, to Hampshire to take on high flying Aldershot Town.
The Manager is likely to be without the services of Rob Scott, Cortez Belle, Alex Bailey, Danny Forrest and Andy Campbell who are still battling injuries and other players, notably Darryn Stamp are playing with knocks such is the severity of the current situation. Add in suspended duo Anthony Griffith and Jon Shaw, and many fans will expect little improvement on an away record that has taken only 5 points from a possible 24 away from The Shay. But, given the character in Wilders squad a positive result is possible.
Under new Boss Gary Waddock The Shots have stated the season well and currently lie in 2nd place in the table with 34 points. Former Shayman John Grant currently has 9 goals and his strike force with Johnny Dixon spells danger.
Recent visits to The Recreation Ground have proved fruitless for The Shaymen with only a goalless draw to show from the last 4 visits and even this point came at a price when Matt Doughty suffered a broken ankle.
Despite dominating the game last season and having 3 reasonable penalty claims denied Darren Barnard's 90th minute goal gave the hosts all 3 points.
Lewis Killeen was the last Town player to score at Aldershot and he looks a good bet again on Saturday with odds of 16/1 with Bet365.
Aldershot have won 6 out of 8 games on home soil this season and will be formidable opposition.Chris Wilders team selection will be dictated by the news from the treatment table and his patched up side will have to battle, but battle they will as they endeavour to ensure they return North with a positive result on Saturday evening.
