FCFC Match :- Preview
Hardly a week seems to go by without me having to etch some more scribbles on Halifax Town playing against Farsley Celtic.
This time, it's us entertaining them - and after both sides not picking up points at the weekend, this game will reward at least one set of fans.
Farsley will be without danger man Roy Stamer, who scored the first goal in Town's 3-0 defeat at Throstles Nest on Boxing Day.However Dominic Krief will be back from suspension to keep the quality levels up for Celtic.
Town will again be without the usual long term casualties, and as the transfer window beckons, Chris Wilder may name a surprise line up as he plans for the rest of this years campaign. Will Adam Quinn be match fit, and will the out-going Cortez Belle or Greg Young feature?
One man who is sure to hold the key to unlocking Farsley Celtic, as Town failed to do last week, will be Steve Torpey.Torpey will be lined up against Farsley's Stephen Downes at right back. This is the position widely regarded by many as Farsley's weak area, but Town failed to exploit this in their recent encounter, choosing to feed balls up to the front men on many occasions, which talented centre backs Ryan Crossley and Scott McNiven dealt with quite comfortably.
A big improvement is needed from Halifax to get any share in the point this week, and although the Shay pitch may not be up to scratch both teams will have to deal with it.The points are vital, and a good crowd will be expected for this derby between the West Yorkshire rivals.
Sing up for the lads, and happy new year.
Steve Clifford.
