CTFC Match :- Preview
Halifax Town take to the road for the final time in this seasons Blue Square Premier League when they travel to Sussex to face Crawley Town on Tuesday evening. And the game couldn't possibly be more important to The Shaymen as they look for points to move out of the relegation zone ahead of Saturday's final game against Stevenage Borough at The Shay.
Battling and spirited displays on the road at Grays Athletic and Burton Albion failed to yield the desired win but the performances emphasised the qualities in the squad and these will be required again at the Broadfield Stadium where Town face a Crawley Town side that currently lies in 16th place with 57 points. This total would be 63 except for a 6 point deduction at the start of the season and Chris Wilder and his men know they are in for a battle against Steve Evans team that have scored goals for fun in recent weeks including 6 against York City 2 weeks ago.
Saturday's goalless draw at home to Aldershot proved Town can match any team in this Division and they head down the M1 for their fourth ever visit to Crawley. So far there has been a win, a draw and a defeat and another notch in the victory column would be massive for the Club.
One familiar face in the Crawley line up is Tyrone Thompson who served The Shaymen well in his 2 seasons at The Shay. But even his battling qualities weren't enough to prevent his new side from a defeat when the 2 teams met at The Shay in November.Town overcame the dismissal of Ryan Toulson to record a fine 3 v 0 victory courtesy of goals from Simon Heslop, Jon Shaw and Anthony Griffith. All 3 players are likely to be in the starting line up at Crawley and it would be a surprise if there were many changes to the team performed well against Aldershot.
Two of our biggest rivals, Northwich Victoria and Farsley Celtic also have difficult away fixtures on the same night but Town can give themselves a massive lift by taking the points on offer.
