Supporters Club Statement
At our meeting on Monday night, the Supporters Club committee unanimously agreed to support the businessmen referred to as "the Consortium" in their attempts to continue the existence of a Halifax based professional football team, albeit at a lower level within the football pyramid structure.
While we share the disappointment experienced by all Town fans concerning the events of the past week, we believe that the consortium have demonstrated their commitment throughout, and hope for their continued support in and beyond this period of uncertainty.
If the consortium should decide to end their involvement with Halifax Town, we would have no hesitation in working with the Supporters Trust to form a fan-owned Club. Although we believe that this idea should for the time being be viewed as a contingency, impending deadlines require certain of the Trust's plans to be progressed in the short term, and we will assist with this where we are able.
Those of the committee who have already met members of the consortium have been impressed with their sincerity and undoubted determination to create a successful and financially stable Halifax Town. We believe that the concerns expressed by some fans are mainly due to a lack of information relating to recent actions and future plans, and that the consortium should seek to address these concerns by attending a public meeting in the very near future.
Kit Walton on behalf of the Supporters Club Committee.
